Yars 'Revenge is a shoot' em up - video game , which by Howard Scott Warshaw developed and for the first time in 1981 by Atari for the Atari VCS was released. It was laterportedto the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance .

Backstory

An alien being named Qotile destroyed planet IV in the Razak solar system . The inhabitants of the solar system - the insects -like yars (mutated flies) - want to take in the destruction of revenge. From planet III they want to attack and destroy Qotile in its base.

Gameplay

The player controls a yar . The aim of the game is to destroy the qotile on the right edge of the screen, which is protected by an energy shield. The shield can be dismantled by touching it or by shooting at it. If the shield has been dismantled to such an extent that Qotile is unprotected, it can be destroyed using the Zorlon weapon. Qotile has two weapon systems for defense: a missile constantly pursues the player and cannot be destroyed by the player. However, it is harmless within a neutral zone on the field of play, but the player cannot shoot within this zone either. The second weapon is a swirl , which Qotile uses to shoot the character at random intervals.

In 1999 a remake of the game for the Game Boy Color was released. Another release followed in 2005 along with Pong and Asteroids for the Game Boy Advance . The game is still integrated into the Atari Flashback consoles. The Atari Flashback II system also contains the successor Yars' Return, which was specially developed for this console .
