Yaya Banana (born July 29, 1991 in Maroua ) is a Cameroonian football player who is under contract with Olympiacos . He mainly plays in the central defender position .
Career
society
In June 2009 Banana signed with the Tunisian club Espérance Tunis , where he began his professional playing career. With the Tunisians he won the national championship twice and in 2011 the CAF Champions League .
He signed a contract with FC Sochaux in Ligue 1 on January 17, 2012 . In the 2013/14 season he played on loan in the Swiss Super League for FC Lausanne-Sport .
On July 30, 2014, he signed a contract in the Greek Super League with AO Platanias for an undisclosed transfer. He immediately became a leading player and an integral part of the defensive.
On June 23, 2017, after the end of his contract with Platanias, he moved to Panionios Athens and thus remained in the Super League.
He moved to Olympiakos in the 2018 summer transfer window. On August 17, 2018, two weeks before the transfer window closed, he returned directly to Panionios for one season as part of a loan deal.
National team
He took part in the 2009 and 2011 World Cups with his country's U20 team.
Yaya made his debut for the Cameroon senior team in a friendly against Thailand in March 2015 . He scored his first goal against Zambia on November 11, 2017 .
