Yelena Smolyanova ( Russian Елена Смольянова , Jelena Smoljanowa ; born February 16, 1986 ) is an Uzbek shot putter .

Athletic career

Yelena Smolyanova gained her first international experience at the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where she was the last of her group to be eliminated from the qualification with 14.43 m . In 2014 she reached seventh place with 15.45 m at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea . At the beginning of September 2017 she won the silver medal at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with a new indoor record of 15.60 m behind the Chinese Bian Ka . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehranpart and won the gold medal there with 15.54 minutes. It should be noted that there were no world class competitors from China. At the end of August she finished fifth at the Asian Games in Jakarta with 15.74 m.

In 2017, Smolyanova became the Uzbek champion in the shot put. She is a graduate of Exercise Science from the Tashkent Institute of Physical Education in Angren .
