The Yeliseyev Rocks ( Russian Скалы Елисеева Skaly Jelissejewa ) are a group of rocky outcrops in Queen Maud's East Antarctic Land . In the Payer group of Hoelfjella they form the southern part of the Linnormen group .
They were discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Aerial photographs and measurements of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) from 1958 to 1959 were used for further mapping. Finally, they also mapped scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition between 1960 and 1961, which they also named after the Soviet geologist Nikolai Alexandrovich Jelissejew (1897–1966). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Russian name to English in 1970.
