Yerko Bastián Leiva Lazo (born June 14, 1998 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean football player . The midfielder has been playing for the Mexican first division club Necaxa since January 2020 and has been a national player since June 2017 .

Career

society

After going through the youth teams of the CF Universidad de Chile , he was promoted to the professional team in January 2016. He made his league debut on January 25, 2016 in an 8-1 home win against CD O'Higgins when he came on for Mathías Corujo in the 77th minute . He scored his first goal just eleven minutes later. In 2017 he and his club celebrated winning the Clausura. After 35 league appearances in which he was able to score three goals, his contract was not extended to July 1, 2019.

On August 17, he joined the first division club Unión La Calera , where he signed a one-year contract. He ended the 2019 season with seven missions in which he did not score.

On January 16, 2020, Yerko Leiva moved to the Mexican first division club Necaxa . He made his debut on February 10, 2020 (5th matchday of Clausura) in the 2-1 away defeat against FC Juárez , when he came on for Fernando Arce in the 82nd minute of the game . Due to the shortened Clausura 2020, he played only four league games in the 2019/20 season in which he remained without a goal participation.

National team

Leiva played four appearances for the U-17 and one for the U-20 national team of Chile . On June 2, he made his debut in a friendly against Burkina Faso in the senior national team . He entered the field in the 78th minute to replace Arturo Vidal .
