Yeni Erenköy , Greek Γιαλουσα Yialousa , Turkish Yeni Erenköy ("New Erenköy") or Yalusa , also Algialousa and Galusa , is a small town in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus .

According to the census, the place had 2800 inhabitants in 1985; In 2006 there were an estimated 4500.

The place is located on a plateau of the Karpas peninsula above a wide and fertile coastal plain. In the past, tobacco and kolokaz , carob and olives formed the pillars of the economy. Today the place is the economic center of the region thanks to good infrastructure, small businesses and agriculture. On the communal beach (Turkish “Halk Plajı”) there are restaurants and all the necessary facilities, the “Malibou Beach” three kilometers away with an adjacent fishing port, in which there are many fishing boats, is managed professionally.

The place got its name from the Turkish name of the city Kokkina (Erenköy), whose Cypriot-Turkish inhabitants had to leave the city in 1974 during the course of the Cyprus conflict . Before the Turkish offensive in 1974, Yeni Erenköy was inhabited by around 2,460 Greek Cypriots . In the context of the Annan Plan , which failed in 2004 , the place should still belong to the Turkish state, but was named as one of the places to which a return of the Greek Cypriots should be made possible.
