One night, the evil Yo-kai Kin and Gin steal Nate Adams' Yo-kai watch to help their Master Dedtime prevent people and Yo-kai from being friends. Then he meets Meganyan, who tells him that Yo-Kai is real. He and the crew go to Nate's grandmother, meet a shadow and chase him, but to no avail. Meganyan comes back and asks to pull out the cork in his body - the cork that suppresses his energy. Nate asks Jibanyan and Whisper to do it for him, but to no avail. Nate eventually pulls it out herself and they are covered in pink smoke. He finds help from Yo-kai Hovernyan and uses a time marker to bring Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan back to 60 years ago, when the Yo-kai clock was invented by Nate's grandfather Nathaniel while he was a child. Dedtime finds out about this and tries to push the human world further away from the yo-kai world. Together, the two boys fight against Dedtime and their evil Evil Yo-kai henchmen to save the world from their evil plans.

The film was made by Oriental Light and Magic and directed by Shigeharu Takahashi and Shinji Ushiro . The script was written by Yoichi Kato and the artistic directors were Aya Kuginuki and Toshihiro Kohama . The character design comes from Masami Suda and Toshiya Yamada . The music was composed by Ken'ichirō Saigō .
