Yōko Shibui

Yōko Shibui ( Japanese 渋 井 陽 子 , Shibui Yōko ; born March 14, 1979 in Kuroiso , today Nasushiobara ) is a Japanese long-distance runner who was successful on the track and in the half marathon and who specialized in the marathon in 2001 .

At this distance, she immediately managed to win the Osaka Women's Marathon and a fourth place at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton.

In 2002 she finished third in the Chicago Marathon . In 2004 she set a Japanese record with 2:19:41 hours at the Berlin Marathon , which, however , was beaten by Mizuki Noguchi the following year . With her best performance, Shibui is the twelfth fastest woman of all time (as of June 2015).

In 2005 she finished seventh and in 2006 second in the Nagoya Marathon .

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, she finished 17th in the 10,000 meter run .

In 2009 she won the Osaka Women's Marathon for the second time after finishing only 10th there in 2007.
