In the meantime, on August 1, 1997, it acquired the Kodomonokuni line, which had previously only been used for excursions, and completely renewed it; Since March 29, 2000 it has been used for regular suburban traffic. Due to major renovations at Yokohama Station and other difficulties, the construction of the Minatomirai Line took over eleven years. It was finally able to open on February 1, 2004.
