Yoshihiro Togashi ( Japanese 冨 樫 義 博 , Togashi Yoshihiro ; born April 27, 1966 in Shinjō , Yamagata Prefecture ) is a Japanese mangaka .

Career

Yoshihiro Togashi drew his first manga in 1986 with Tonda Birthday Present . He then went to Tokyo to devote himself to his career as a manga artist. In 1987 he won the Tezuka Prize of Shōnen Jump magazine with his manga Buttobi Straight . This made the Shueisha publishing house aware of him, which is why he had the opportunity to publish this short story and several other series in Shōnen Jump. His breakthrough came in 1990 with Yū Yū Hakusho , a fantasy manga.

After a few forays into the science fiction genre ( Level E ), he returned to fantasy in 1995 and has been working on Hunter × Hunter since 1998 , which was also a great success. Yoshihiro often does not meet the deadlines for the weekly Hunter × Hunter , which is why there are often pauses over several months (the longest so far from 2012 to 2014).

He has a sister and a younger brother who is also a draftsman. His wife is the draftswoman of the Sailor Moon manga series , Naoko Takeuchi . In his manga series "Hunter × Hunter" his wife helps him with coloring . In 2017 Togashi wrote the two chapters Manga Akuten Wars (悪 悪 天 ォ ー ズ). This was illustrated by Hachi Mizuno and published in the September and November editions of Grand Jump Premium .
