Yū Yū Hakusho ( Japanese 幽 ★ 遊 ★ 白 書 , English for example: " White Book of Wandering Spirits") is a manga series from Japan by Yoshihiro Togashi from the Shōnen genre. The manga was also known as anime - TV series implemented.

action

After 14-year-old Yusuke Urameshi saved a child from being run over by pushing it off the road, he died himself. Since he otherwise behaved so badly, even the world of ghosts was surprised by this action. But Yusuke was not yet destined to die and so gets a second chance to live. After his resuscitation he becomes a “ghost detective” who defeats demons for Lord Koenma, the prince of the spiritual world. Over time, demons and people gather around him to help him in his struggles.

Yusuke Urameshi
Yūsuke Urameshi ( 浦 飯 幽助 ) usually has no respect for authoritarian people, except for his mother. He often skips school and is the best thug at his school, which is why the others are afraid of him. He has a high level of spiritual energy.

Kazuma Kuwabara
Kazuma Kuwabara ( 桑 原 和 真 ) rivals Yusuke at the beginning of the series, but becomes a good friend of his as the series progresses. Kazuma can recognize demons and defeat them with his sword made from spiritual energy. At the beginning of the series he can only create the sword when he has an example made of wood in front of him, later he can create two swords from his own energy.

Keiko Yukimura
Keiko Yukimura ( 雪村 螢 子 ) is Yusuke's girlfriend, even if they both deny it. Her birthday is January 31st and her hobbies are cooking and cleaning. At first she tries to dissuade Yusuke from his work as a detective, later she supports him and helps him actively.

Shuichi Minamino
Shuichi Minamino ( 秀 一 南 野 ) is actually a 3000 year old fox demon, called Yōko Kurama ( 妖狐 蔵 馬 ), whose weapons are plants of all kinds, who was reborn in the body of 15 year old Shuichi Minamino after being killed by a hunter was fatally injured from the spirit world for being a legendary thief who was once the leader of a gang of thieves. He had completely lost his memories by the time he was 10 years old. From then on, all of his memories and abilities came back. He joined Hiei and with him stole the magical artifacts of the spirit world to free his beloved human mother from her illness.

He later joined up with Hiei Yusuke and has fought alongside his friends ever since. Shuichi is calm, polite, and intelligent, which is why he is the best of his class at the Meioh Private Academy. In the course of the Dark Tournament, Shuichi learns to take on his true form, that of the Yōko, and thus to increase his strength. His skills are the manipulation of plants of all kinds, and he can crack seals and codes. He has all kinds of seeds and roses in his hair. He is only called Kurama by his friends.

Hiei Jaganshi
Hiei was a criminal at the beginning of the series who was wanted, among other things, for stealing valuable artifacts. After he was defeated by Yusuke, he joined the group for the first time in the fight against the "Saint Beasts". Hiei always stays calm and is an excellent swordsman. With his Jagan eye (English also "Evil Eye"; translated "Evil Eye") he can locate areas and people. He also masters fire attacks.

Yū Yū Hakusho was published in the weekly manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from Shueisha- Verlag from 1990 until the series ended in 1994. There were 175 chapters, which were summarized in 19 tankōbons that have not yet appeared in German.

The manga offers stories, especially in the first two volumes, that did not appear in the anime. It also has some minor differences to the anime, such as Botan's absence from the rescue of Yukina.

Anime

From 1992 to 1995, Yū Yū Hakusho was filmed as a 112-part anime series by Studio Pierrot . Directed by Noriyuki Abe and produced by Yomiko Advertising and Fuji Television , which also aired the series. Matsuko Mawatari produced the song "Hohoemi no Bakudan" (微笑 み の 爆 弾) for the opening credits of the series . The first film begins with the title "Bomb of your Smile" by Matsuko Mawatari and ends with "Sayonara Bye Bye" by the same. The credits of the second film is "Sayonara Iwanai wa" of Person Z underlaid.

reception

The series won the Anime Grand Prix of Animage in 1993 and 1994. Togashi received the 1994 Shogakukan Manga Prize in the "Shōnen" category.
