The first release was a limited edition science fiction film Plastic Little . The company was based in Alpenrod in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until the end of 2007, productions licensed by OVA Films were exclusively distributed by ACOG .

history

OVA Films was founded in 1995 as an anime label by Modern Graphics GmbH, which also took over the distribution itself. After Modern Graphics went bankrupt, the label went to Dynamic Medien Vertriebs GmbH in 2005. There the label was converted into OVA Films GmbH in 2006. In October 2009, OVA Films filed for bankruptcy. According to the company, this is due to the sharp downturn in anime DVD sales, which have declined by 65% in the last 2 financial years. OVA Films blamed the illegal pirated copies for this. In January 2012, the insolvency proceedings were initiated and the company was dissolved; the commercial register of OVA Films has been closed since November 2019.
