José Miguel Sánchez
José Miguel "Yoss" Sánchez Gómez (born April 2, 1969 in Havana ) is a Cuban writer and is considered one of the most important science fiction authors in his country.
Life
Yoss studied biology at the University of Havana and graduated in 1991 as a Licenciado . Then he started to write his first stories.
Yoss has been a member of the Cuban Writers' Union since 1994 . He is active as a critic and narrator of both realism and science fiction and feels at home in the literary movement of the Novísimos ("the new ones "). His stories have been published both in Cuba and abroad, in German so far only “A refreshingly good thing” in the anthology “Cubanísimo! Young storytellers from Cuba ”. Yoss has received several awards for his work.
Since 2007, Yoss has also been a singer in the heavy metal group Tenaz .
