Youssef Mokhtari [ jusef moxtari ] ( Arabic يوسف المختاري, DMG Yūsuf al-Muḫtārī , Central Atlas Tamazight ⵢⵓⵙⴼ ⵎⵓⵅⵜⴰⵔⵉ Yusef Muxtari ; * March 5, 1979 in Beni Sidel , Morocco ) is a Moroccan football player who also has German citizenship . His younger brother Oualid Mokhtari is also a soccer player.
Career
society
Mokhtari began his football career at SSV Raunheim . He then moved to FSV Frankfurt , where he scored twelve goals in 64 regional league games from 1998 to 2000. In 2000 he moved to SSV Jahn Regensburg and scored three goals in 22 regional league games. After seven goals in 24 regional league games in his second season for Jahn Regensburg , the playmaker initially moved to Wacker Burghausen in 2002 , for whom he scored ten times in 58 games. In summer 2004 he joined Energie Cottbus . Mokhtari was a regular with the Lausitzers . Before the 2005/06 season he caused a stir when he was accused by the Cottbus' management of wanting to force a club change to 1. FC Köln by refusing to work, whereby Mokhtari referred to allegedly verbal promises in the event of a possible first division engagement.
Mokhtari was finally loaned for a year (until June 30, 2006) from 1. FC Köln. However, he could never prevail with the billy goats. On April 11, 2006, the contract was prematurely terminated by mutual agreement. For the 2006/07 season Mokhtari moved to MSV Duisburg , where he quickly became a regular player. On January 3, 2008, the Moroccan moved to Al-Rayyan Sport-Club in Qatar for a transfer fee of € 350,000 .
There he scored seven goals in nine games, was already the new team captain after the first game, but the league in Qatar didn't challenge him enough ("the highest league there is about regional league level"), he turned down a lavish two-year contract ("I would have earned as much as the top 30 Bundesliga earners ”) and wanted to play in the Bundesliga again.
After he was initially without a club, Mokhtari signed on October 14, 2008 a contract with his home club FSV Frankfurt . Although he was there regular player and a key player in achieving relegation, his contract was not extended. He then moved to second division competitor SpVgg Greuther Fürth , where he signed a contract until 2012. However, this was dissolved again on January 27, 2010 and Youssef Mokhtari moved to Ligue 2 for FC Metz . For the 2011/12 season he joined the third division club Wacker Burghausen . For the 2014/15 season Mokhtari moved to F91 Dudelange in the first Luxembourg league . In January 2015, his contract was terminated there, and from autumn he played for the regional league team Viktoria Aschaffenburg. During the winter break of the 2015/16 season, he joined the Hessen division SC Hessen Dreieich . In the summer of 2017, he left the club and moved to the FC Viktoria 09 Urberach club . For the 2018/19 season he returned to his hometown club SV 07 Raunheim, where his brother Oualid Mokhtari is player-coach and club chairman.
National team
Mokhtari was the Moroccan national player from 2004 to 2008 and played 23 times for the "Lions of Atlas".
