Ypsilandis ( Greek Υψηλάντης ( m. Sg. )) Is a local community in the district of Aliartos of the municipality of Aliartos-Thespies . Until 1953 the place was called Vrastamites ( Greek Βρασταμίτες ). Then it was named after the freedom fighter Dimitrios Ypsilantis , who defeated the Ottomans on September 25, 1829 about 1 km west of the town in the Battle of Petra .

Ypsilandis is located about 200 m above sea level on the northern slope of the Helikon south of the Kopaïs plane . About 700 m south of the village there is a tower from the Franconian times and 2 km southwest is the monastery of Agios Nikolaos. There is a monument here that commemorates the Battle of Petra. A memorial commemorates the execution of 50 Greek prisoners of war, who were imprisoned in Livadia , by the Wehrmacht on January 8, 1944 , after a German soldier was killed by guerrilla fighters in Vrastamites.
