Yu Yamei

Yu Yamei (chin .: 于 雅媚, * 1975 in Tianjin , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese violinist . From 2001 to 2010 she was first concertmaster of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and is a member of the piano trio Trio Parnassus and the Berlin Soloist Octet . Since September 2009 she has been professor for violin at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf.

Life

Yu began studying music at the Beijing Music Academy with Huang Shengmin. From 1992 she studied with Gottfried Schneider in Munich. In Berlin she continued her studies in the concert exam with Christoph Poppen. She was inspired by artists such as Dénes Zsigmondy and Ulf Hoelscher.

After she won various competitions, she gave concerts in Europe, America and Asia. She played as a soloist under conductors such as Yehudi Menuhin and Yakov Kreitzberg.

In 1996 she was appointed first concertmaster of the Komische Oper Berlin. She held this position until 2001. In 2001 she moved to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 2005 she replaced the violinist Wolf Dieter Streicher as a member of the piano trio Trio Parnassus.

Awards

Yu Yamei was u. a. Winner of the Tibor Varga Competition in Sion, Switzerland, the International Spohr Competition and the International Leopold Mozart Competition in Augsburg . At the 50th ARD International Music Competition in 2001 she received third prize.

Yu Yamei played the Stradivarius "Tartini" until 2010 (built around 1720–1725). Your current instrument is a Goffriller from 1730.
