Yucca whipplei subsp. intermedia (English common name : "Malibu Lake Yucca") is a subspecies of the Yucca whipplei plant in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).

description

Yucca whipplei subsp. intermedia grows solitary or forms groups with a few rosettes. The flexible, finely toothed, blue to green leaves are 25 to 80 cm long and 1 to 2 cm wide.

The branched inflorescence is 1 to 2.5 meters high. It is similar to the subspecies Yucca whipplei subsp. caespitosa , which however develops smaller rosettes and smaller pads. The flowering period extends from April to June. After the flowering period, it develops new rosettes from the base. They are rare in the collections in Europe.

distribution

Yucca whipplei subsp. intermedia is common in the US state of California at altitudes up to 600 m.
