Yuriy Kadnykov

Yuriy Kadnykov (* 1975 in Evpatorija in the Crimea / Ukraine ) is the regional rabbi of the regional association of Jewish communities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life

Kadnykov was born in 1975 in Yevpatoria on the Crimean peninsula, which was then part of the Ukrainian SSR . After the end of communist rule with the collapse of the Soviet Union , he became involved in rebuilding religious Jewish life in Evpatoria. At Machon in Moscow , the Institute of the World Union for Progressive Judaism , he completed a two-year advanced training course from 2000, after which he worked as a representative of the liberal rabbi in Sevastopol .

In 2003 Kadnykov came to Germany, where he at Potsdamer Abraham Geiger College rabbinical training, and at the University of Potsdam completed a master's degree in the subjects of Jewish Studies, Religious Studies and Literature. In the meantime he studied in Jerusalem and in 2010 received the DAAD Prize from the International Office of the University of Potsdam for outstanding academic achievements . His master's thesis "The history of the interpretation of Numbers 12 in the light of biblical criticism" on the biblical story Ma'ase Miriam received distinction.

On April 1, 2015, Yuriy Kadnykov took over the office of State Rabbi of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from William Wolff .
