Yvan Van Velthoven (born May 9, 1970 ) is a Belgian snooker player .

Career

1986 Yvan Van Velthoven achieved his first great successes. He became Belgian U-21 champion and, with a 7: 6 final win over defending champion Mario Lannoye, Belgian men's championship . In 1988 and 1989 he made it to the finals again, but lost to Lannoye. At the Belgian championship in 1992 he won the final against Mario Geudens , two years later he became Belgian champion by beating Danny Lathouwers . In 2006 Van Velthoven reached the final again for the first time in twelve years and only just lost it 6: 7 against Jim Spapen . In September 2010, at the Brugge Open , he qualified for the first time for the main round of a PTC tournament. There he was defeated by the Englishman Jamie Cope in the first round . At the Antwerp Open 2011 he was eliminated in the preliminary round against Ian Burns . In 2012 Van Velthoven became Belgian champion for the fourth time in the final against Kevin Van Hove and was also Belgian senior champion. In November of the same year he reached the round of 64 at the Antwerp Open and was eliminated there against the Thai Thepchaiya Un-Nooh . In 2013 and 2014 Van Velthoven lost the final of the Belgian championship against Luca Brecel . In 2014 he was also again Belgian senior champion.

Van Velthoven is also a successful English Billiards player. In 1991 he was in the final against Steve Lambrechts Belgian champion, a year later he was defeated in the final Martin Spoormans before he was again in 1993 with a final victory over Lambrechts Belgian champion.
