Mario Lannoye (born June 21, 1965 ) is a Belgian pool and snooker player . He became vice European champion in pool in 1992 .

Career

In 1984 Mario Lannoye became Belgian snooker champion for the first time with a 5-0 final victory over George Dennef . A year later he managed to defend the title in the final against Peter De Waele . After losing 6-7 in the 1986 final against Yvan Van Velthoven , he was the only player to be Belgian champion three times in a row from 1987 to 1989. At the Amateur World Cup in 1987 , he managed for the only time to move into the final round, in which he was defeated by Thai James Wattana in the round of 16 with 3: 5.

In 1990 he was defeated by Steve Lemmens in the final of the Belgian championship, a year later he defeated Peter Blomme in the final and thus became Belgian champion for the sixth time. He is the Belgian record champion together with Björn Haneveer . 1992 Lannoye achieved his greatest success in pool; at the European Championship he made it to the final in 9-ball , which he lost to the Austrian Werner Duregger , and on the Euro Tour he reached the final of the Dutch Open , but was defeated by the German Thomas Engert . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2000 , Lannoye reached the round of 64, but was eliminated from Earl Strickland 3: 9. At the 2004 European Championship , Lannoye came in 33rd place in 8-Ball . In January 2006 he was second in the final against Mika Immonen at the Open Weert 7-Ball Event .

Lannoye currently plays in Middelkerke at the billiards club The Gallery.
