The WPA-9-Ball-World Championship 2000 was the eleventh edition of the world championship held by the WPA in the pool discipline 9-ball . It took place from July 1st to 9th, 2000 in the Welsh capital Cardiff .

The Taiwanese Chao Fong-Pang became world champion with a 17: 6 victory in the final against the Mexican Ismael Páez . Defending champion Nick Varner was eliminated in the round of 64 against Englishman Kevin Smith . Oliver Ortmann reached the round of 16 as the best German and lost it to Chao.

mode

The 96 participating players were divided into 16 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The top four players in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
