WPA Pool Team World Championship 2012

The WPA pool team world championship 2012 ( English : World Team Championship 2012 ; short: WTC 2012 ) was held from July 1st to 7th, 2012 in Beijing in the People's Republic of China . It was the second edition of the world championship for pool teams organized by the World Pool Billiard Association . The Taiwanese team Chinese Taipei became world champions with a 4-0 win in the final against Japan . Defending champion Great Britain was eliminated in the semifinals against the eventual world champions. The German team, consisting of Oliver Ortmann , Thorsten Hohmann , Ralf Souquet and Jasmin Michel , were eliminated in the round of 16 against Japan.

mode

Each participating team consisted of four to five players, including at least one woman. The games consisted of two sets each in the disciplines 8-ball , 9-ball and 10-ball . The two 8-ball matches were played in men's singles. The woman played a 9-ball and a 10-ball match. The two 10-ball matches were played as doubles, 9-ball was played individually.

Prize money

A total of 300,000 US dollars in prize money was distributed, of which the winning team received 80,000 US dollars. The prize money per team is given below.

Preliminary round

Group A

In Group A, Estonia , Indonesia , Croatia and the Philippines played . Indonesia and the Philippines made it to the finals. On the first day of the game the following results were achieved:

  • Philippines - Indonesia 4-2
  • Croatia - Estonia 5-1

Group B

In Group B China 1, Finland , Canada and Malaysia played . China 1, Finland and Canada made it to the finals. On the first day of the game the following results were achieved:

  • China 1 - Canada 5: 1
  • Finland 4-2 Malaysia

Group C

In Group C, Australia , China 2, Hong Kong and Singapore played . Australia and China 2 reached the finals. On the first day of the game the following results were achieved:

  • China 2 - Australia 4-2
  • Hong Kong - Singapore 3: 3

Group D

Group D was played by Japan , Poland , Sweden and Vietnam . Japan, Poland and Sweden made it to the finals. On the first day of the game the following results were achieved:

  • Japan - Poland 4-2
  • Sweden - Vietnam 3: 3

Group E

In Group E, Great Britain , India , South Africa and South Korea played . Great Britain, India and South Korea made it to the finals. On the first day of the game the following results were achieved:

  • Great Britain - South Africa 6-0
  • South Korea - India 6-0

Group F.

In Group F Chinese Taipei , Germany , Mongolia and Norway played . Chinese Taipei, Germany and Norway made it to the final round. On the first day of the game the following results were achieved:

  • Chinese Taipei 6-0 Mongolia
  • Germany - Norway 3: 3
