The WPA-8-Ball World Championship 2012 (officially: WPA Etisalat World 8-Ball Championship 2012 ) was the seventh world championship in the 8-ball pool event held by the WPA . It took place from February 11th to 18th, 2012 at the Fujairah Tennis Center in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates .
The Taiwanese Chang Jung-Lin became world champion with an 11: 6 victory in the final against his compatriot Fu Che-wei . Defending champion Dennis Orcollo was eliminated in the round of 32 against Karol Skowerski .
Oliver Ortmann reached the quarter-finals as the best German, which he lost to the eventual world champion. Thorsten Hohmann was eliminated in the round of 16 against Chris Melling .

96 players took part in the tournament. In the preliminary round it was played in the double knockout system . This means: After the first game, the players were divided into a winning round and a losing round. Whoever was in the winning round only had to prevail in one game against another player who had won in the first round to get to the final round. In the losers round, however, you first had to assert yourself against another player who lost in the first game and then win against a loser from the winning round. 64 players qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
