The Nordhelle near Nenkersdorf and Walpersdorf in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein is 579.9  m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Siegerland Rothaar Vorhöhen in the Rothaargebirge .

The Nordhelle is located in the south of the Rothaargebirge and the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park on the Ederkopf-Lahnkopf ridge . The summit of the elevation belonging to the Nenkersdorf district is 1.2 km southeast of Walpersdorf and 1.4 km east of Nenkersdorf, and 2.3 km west of the Nenkersdorf hamlet of Lahnhof . The eastern neighbor of the Nordhelle is the Stiegelburg ( 637.8  m ) and to the southwest is the Hellerkopf ( 551.8  m ).

Natural allocation

The Nordhelle belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) and in the main unit Siegerland (331) to the sub-unit Siegerland Rothaar-Vorhöhen (331.2). From a geomorphological point of view, it belongs to the western flank of the Ederkopf-Lahnkopf-Ridge natural area (333.01), which is part of the sub-unit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) .

Mountain height and altitude

The northern light is 579.9  m high. Its summit is a few meters south of the border with the Walpersdorf district in the Nenkersdorf district. In topographic maps , on the summit region of the elevation in the east near a forest path, a trigonometric point can be found at a height of 576.7  m and in the west on this path the height indication is 569.1  m . In addition, the height indication 578  m is entered on such maps near the summit .

Flowing waters

To the north of the Nordhelle flows the Sieg tributary Sindernbach , which, after making an arc, also passes the elevation to the northwest. The Altwiesenbach ( Haardtbach ; Au ) rises on its southwest slope , which flows into the Sieg in Grissenbach , and the Demmbach flows past it to the southeast and feeds the Werthenbach .

Transport, hiking and sports

 The L 719 leads northwest past the Nordhelle through Nenkersdorf and Walpersdorf to the Eisenstrasse des Rothaargebirge ( Landesstrasse 722). A widely ramified network of paths leads over the elevation, including the Rothaarsteig -Zubringerweg coming from Deuz and several farm roads . There is a ski lift with a slope on its northwest slope .
