The World Championship in 14 and 1 Endless 2007 took place between July 9 and 14, 2007 in New Brunswick ( United States ).
The tournament was held by the WPA ( World Pool-Billiard Association ) and Dragon Promotions and was the second of its kind. Oliver Ortmann from Germany became world champion with a 200: 171 final victory over Huidji See from the Netherlands .
regulate
A total of 32 players from 15 nations took part in the tournament. With Jasmin Ouschan (Austria) and Yu Ram Cha (South Korea), two women also qualified for the World Cup. This is possible because there is no separate women's world championship in 14 and 1 endless (similar to 8-ball; but in contrast to 9-ball) and women are therefore eligible to compete in the men's world championship.
In the preliminary round, the number of players was reduced from 64 to 32. It was played in 8 groups of 8 players each, with the first four reaching the next round. First of all, the number of wins counted and, in the event of a tie, the points scored. In the preliminary round, 100 points were played.
Then the field was in double K. o. system reduced to 16 players. With the double K. o. you have the chance after a defeat to reach the next round via the losers round. The points required to win have been increased from 100 to 150 this round.
In the final round of the last 16 players, the game was then played in the knockout system , so every defeat resulted in elimination from the tournament. The required number of points was increased again and was 200 in the final round.
