The World Cup in 9-Ball 2007 was the eighteenth edition of this tournament and took place between the 3rd and 11th November 2007 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City ( Philippines instead). The annual world championship is organized by the WPA ( World Pool-Billiard Association ).

World champion was Daryl Peach from England with a 17:15 victory in the final against Roberto Gomez from the Philippines .

mode

A total of 128 players from 46 nations took part in the tournament.

The game was played with a winner's break. This means that the players do not take turns to kick off (as was the case in 2006), but the player who won the previous game is kicking off.

In the preliminary round, the number of players was reduced from 128 to 64. The game was initially played in a double knockout system . This means: After the first game, the players were divided into a winning round and a losing round. Whoever was in the winning round only had to prevail in one game against another player who had won in the first round to get to the final round. In the losers round, however, you first had to assert yourself against another player who lost in the first game and then win against a loser from the winning round.

Even if this system is relatively complicated, it guarantees every player to be able to lose a game in the preliminary round without having to be eliminated from the tournament immediately. The second lost game within the preliminary round will in any case lead to elimination from the tournament.

In the final round it was then played in the knockout system , so every defeat led to elimination from the tournament.
