James Rempe (also Jim Rempe ; born November 4, 1947 in Scranton , Pennsylvania ) is an American pool player .

Rempe began playing billiards at the age of six; He turned professional at the age of 22. In the course of his career he won eleven world championships and over 100 tournaments in various pool disciplines. He is also the winner of the World Pool League in 1998 & 1999. Since 2002 he has been a member of the Hall of Fame of the Billiard Congress of America .

He represented the USA three times at the Mosconi Cup , most recently in 1999 . His nickname in the pool scene is King James .

From 1985 to 1991 Rempe took part in professional snooker games. He achieved his best result when he reached the round of 64 during the 1987 World Snooker Championship . There he lost against record world champion Stephen Hendry with 4:10. In the world snooker rankings, Rempe achieved his highest ranking in 1987 with 101st place.
