Yvon Tarabout

Yvon Tarabout (born before 1963) is a French neo- Greekist .

Tarabout received his doctorate in 1963 with an extensive thèse de doctorat on the language of the poet Aristotelis Valaoritis . From 1970 to 1979 he was André Mirambel's successor on the Chair of Modern Greek at the Institut national des langues et civilizations orientales . In this role he supervised numerous dissertations.

Tarabout mainly worked on modern Greek literature, but also considered linguistic issues. A major work is the critical edition of a text by Kosmas Thesprotos (1780–1852), which contains a complaint by Ali Pascha (around 1741–1822), an Ottoman governor.
