André Mirambel , in Greek transcription Αντρέ Μιραμπέλ (* 1900 ; † 1970 ) was a French linguist and neo-Greekist .

After graduating from the Agrégation de grammaire and graduating from the École nationale des langues orientales vivantes , Mirambel was a professor at the Institut français d'Athènes (IFA) from 1925 to 1928 . In 1929 he was appointed to the chair of Neo-Greek Studies ( grec modern ) at the École nationale des langues orientales vivantes as the successor to Ioannis Psycharis . From 1954 he was also its prorector, from 1958 to 1969 its rector. Since 1965 he was a member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres .

Mirambel has mainly dealt with modern Greek , its dialects and the Greek language issue from a linguistic perspective . A modern Greek grammar, a linguistic description of modern Greek and a modern Greek lexicon testify to this. In addition, he has dealt with modern Greek literature both scientifically and in translation .
