Yvonne-Aimée de Jésus
Yvonne-Aimée de Jésus (also known as Yvonne-Aimée de Malestroit or Yvonne Beauvais) (born July 16, 1901 in Cossé-en-Champagne , France , † February 3, 1951 in Malestroit , France) was a French nun , mystic , Foundress and First Superior General of the Federation of Augustinian Nurses of the Mercy of Jesus.
Life
Yvonne-Aimée had mystical experiences at a very young age and felt called to lead a consecrated life. From June 12, 1922, she regularly had visions and mystical experiences. Before entering the monastery , she cared for the poor in the slums of Paris (Red Zone) , for which she provided the financial means by cooking, painting, writing novellas, playing the piano and violin. The Jesuit priest René de la Chevasnerie wrote the series of novels Monette et ses pauvres about this charitable work , which became a bestseller.
On March 18, 1927, she entered the Augustinian convent in Malestroit as a postulant . There she made her temporary profession on September 29, 1928 . In 1931 she founded the magazine Die Augustinische Jugend . She made perpetual vows on September 29, 1931. From 1932 to 1933 she was a novice master in Malestroit. On May 2, 1935, she was unanimously proposed as superior by the Sisters of Malestroit. Since she was only 33 years old, a dispensation from the Holy See was necessary for her election , which was granted on May 6, 1935. During the Second World War she repeatedly had problems with the German occupying forces and was temporarily arrested by the Gestapo . She hid French and Allied soldiers. She received several awards for her commitment. She was elected Superior General at the founding chapter of the Federation of Augustinian Nurses of the Mercy of Jesus from August 18 to 20, 1946. She had campaigned for this foundation since 1937. At the age of 49, she died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Malestroit.
Beatification process
On June 1, 1960, her beatification process was completed and any publication about her was forbidden by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith . The reasons for this were distorted representations of their mystical experiences and the emergence of enthusiasm. The ban was partially lifted on December 10, 1984 by the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger . Since then, Father René Laurentin has tried to rehabilitate the cause through numerous publications .
