Yvonne M. Barr

Yvonne Margaret Barr (married Balding ; born March 11, 1932 in Ireland ; † February 13, 2016 ) was a virologist . In 1964 she discovered along with Michael Anthony Epstein and Bert G. Achong in cell cultures of African Burkitt's lymphoma was later named as Epstein-Barr virus .

Live and act

Barr graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in Zoology . She received her PhD from the University of London in 1966 . She was Epstein's assistant at Middlesex Hospital in London.

She emigrated to Melbourne. She was married to Stuart Balding and had two children.
