Zurich theater spectacle

The Zürcher Theater Spektakel is an international theater festival that takes place every summer for 18 days in Zurich - Wollishofen on Lake Zurich . It will be held at various locations, including the Landiwiese , the shipyard and the Rote Fabrik .
The event was founded in 1980 as an international meeting of independent theaters. Today around 40 different international groups perform at the festival. The program includes various contemporary forms of the performing arts . Artists such as Kornél Mundruczó , Milo Rau , Boyzie Cekwana, Lola Arias , Amir Reza Koohestani, Forced Entertainment , Market Theater , Wooster Group , Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio , Peter Brook , Robert Lepage , Christoph Marthaler , Marina Abramović have already participated in the festival , Matthew Barney or Alvis Hermanis . A gastronomic offer with several restaurants and bars can also be found on the event site .
The festival is led by Veit Kälin (technical director, since 2015), Delphine Lyner (commercial director, since 2013) and Matthias von Hartz (artistic director, since 2017).
Since 1986, Zürcher Kantonalbank has awarded the ZKB Sponsorship Prize and the ZKB Acknowledgment Prize at the end of the festival. In 2016, the ZKB Audience Award was added.
The Zürcher Theater Spektakel has around 150,000 visitors annually. Around 25,000 tickets are sold for each of the chargeable performances.
