Zahir Ali

Zahir Ali (born August 25, 1987 in Jakarta ) is a former Indonesian racing car driver .

Career

Ali made his debut in formula racing in 2004 and started two races in the Asian Formula 3 championship . After a one-year break, he continued his motorsport career in 2006 in the Asian Formula BMW . He started for Eurasia Motorsport and finished seventh overall as the worst driver on his team. He also took part in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge that year and came in ninth there. In 2007 Ali completed his second season in the Asian Formula BMW for the TARADTM team . He won five races and was runner-up with 716 points behind Jazeman Jaafar , who had 768 points. After a violation of the technical regulations by Jaafar's team Qi-Meritus, Ali even seemed to have been established as champion in the meantime, but lost the title after the disqualification was withdrawn three months later in response to a protest due to a formal error .

In 2008 Ali switched to the Japanese Formula 3 championship . With a valuation victory he was fourth in the national class. He also took part in three Australian Formula 3 races . In the winter of 2008/2009 , Ali started two A1GP events . With a ninth and tenth place, he scored the only season points for the Indonesian team . Ali then took part in a total of four racing weekends in the German Formula 3 Cup for two different teams . He was left without points.

Ali had not participated in any racing series since 2010 and ended his driving career.
