The Zahořanský AG , headquartered in Todtnau -Geschwend, Baden-Wuerttemberg , is a manufacturer of injection molds, blister packaging machines, production lines for toothbrushes, machines for the production of brushes and brooms and mascara and interdental brush machines. It is one of the leading companies in the brush machine industry. The Zahoransky Group employs around 900 people at 10 locations worldwide. In 2017 the turnover was 123 million euros.

history

The medium-sized family company was founded in 1902 by Anton Zahoransky in Todtnau and manufactured tufting machines for brush making. In 1909 the first combined drilling and tamping machines were developed. After the First World War , the first branch was established in Freiburg-Lehen in 1922, and another one near Strasbourg eight years later . In 1935 the first automatic shearing machines were built for brush production.

After the Second World War , a branch was opened in Müllheim and production resumed. In 1952, the year after the company's founder's death, today's core business area was created with the first twin production line for toothbrushes. The entry into injection molding technology began in 1965, in 1969 the first automatic machine for bottle brushes was built and in 1971 the first fully automatic twin machine (inserting, drilling, stuffing, shearing). Two years later, ESTO, a machine manufacturer for bottle brushes, was taken over . Also in 1973 Zahoransky exhibited 50 machines at the first Interbrossa and had 315 employees.

The first packaging machine was built in 1978, in 1980 the first compact system with CNC control for toothbrush production and in 1983 a fully automatic toothbrush system with attached blister packaging. In 1991, mold and tool making was spun off into its own companies and, from 2002, subsidiaries outside of Europe were founded.

Today Zahoransky has established itself as the world market leader in the field of mold and tool construction for the toothbrush industry. Around 80 percent of toothbrush tools worldwide come from Zahoransky. Today (2013) every second toothbrush worldwide is manufactured on Zahoransky machines. Zahoransky is also considered a " hidden champion " and world market leader for brush manufacturing machines, ahead of his direct competitor Ebser, who is also based in Todtnau.
