Zahra's blue eyes ( Persian چشمهای آبی زهرا, Tscheschmhā-ye ābi-ye zahrā ) is a seven - part anti-Semitic , conspiracy-ideological television film series of the Iranian state television, which was first broadcast in December 2004 by IRIB Channel 1. In the series, an Israeli presidential candidate abducts Palestinian children in order to harvest organs for his son.

content

Yitzhak Cohen, candidate for the office of Israeli prime minister , abducts Palestinian children in order to harvest their organs. For example, the girl Zahra's eyes are operated on in order to implant them in Cohen's blind son. Her grandfather tries to save her with the help of an Ethiopian Jew , but is killed in the process. Cohen justifies his plan by stating that everything from the Euphrates to the Nile belongs to the Jews. Finally, Zahra's brother carries out a suicide bombing .

Reception and effect

The series was heavily criticized by the public for using anti-Semitic stereotypes and glorifying suicide bombings. According to Klaus Holz and Michael Kiefer , the series takes up the old European stereotype of the Jewish parasite . In France, in response to the broadcast of the series, the Iranian broadcaster Sahar TV was banned from broadcasting because of the anti-Semitic content of the series. The case attracted particular attention in Germany when the Turkish film version ( Filistinli Zehra'nın Gözleri ) was offered at a Turkish book fair in the courtyard of the Mevlana Mosque in Berlin . The public prosecutor's office initiated an investigation into sedition .
