The Zapadnoye Lake ( Russian Озеро Западное Osero Sapadnoje , German 'Western Lake' ) is an 800 m long lake on the Princess Astrid coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located at the western end of the Schirmacher Oasis .
Participants in a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it in 1961 and named it after its relative geographic location. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1970.
