The Zastava M91 is a self-loading - sniper rifle of the Serbian manufacturer Zastava from Kragujevac .
history
The Zastava M91 rifle is the successor to the M76 - sniper rifle of the Yugoslav army . The weapon is based on the technology of the AK-47 assault rifle . It was developed and produced by the Serbian company Zastava oružje . The M91 was first produced in 1992 and used in the Serbo-Croatian War . The decision to replace the 7.92 × 57 mm caliber with the 7.62 × 54 mm R also made it necessary to redesign a sniper rifle.
The task of the M91 is the same as that of the M76: to increase the maximum combat distance of the platoon from around 300 m to 800 m, since several targeted shots can be fired in a row.
Technology and appearance
The weapon is immediately recognizable as belonging to the Kalashnikov weapon family. The wooden shoulder rest is firmly attached and has an end cap. The forend is divided into two parts, this is used for cooling. The pistol grip is integrated into the skeletonized stock.
The weapon is a gas pressure loader with a long stroke and a rotating head lock. It has a gas regulation device. The ammunition is fed from a ten- round curve magazine .
The breech block is made using sheet metal stamping, the barrel is hard chrome-plated. The flash hider can be exchanged for a silencer .
As an emergency sight, the weapon has a curved sight that is equipped with tritium light points. In addition, a four times magnifying telescopic sight (650 g weight) or a night vision device are available as a target aid. The M91 is designed for extreme temperatures without significantly affecting accuracy.
