Zavala Island (English; Bulgarian остров Завала ostrow Sawala ) is a 700 m long and 250 m wide island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the group of Dunbar Islands off the northeast coast of Livingston Island , it is 1.3 km east-northeast of Balsha Island , 0.6 km southwest of Aspis Island , 0.8 km north of Slab Point and 0.35 km west of Organpipe Point .
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in 2009. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in the same year after a town and a mountain of the same name in western Bulgaria .
