Zdzisław Tranda

Zdzisław Tranda (born December 18, 1925 in Poznan ) is a Polish Evangelical Reformed theologian and bishop of the Reformed Church in Poland .

Live and act

Tranda studied Protestant theology after obtaining his university entrance qualification . Then he was taken into the service of a vicar of his church and after his vicariate was ordained a pastor on November 18, 1952 and was given the parish of Zelów . From 1978 to 2002 he held the post of general superintendent . He carried the title of “bishop” in the only very small Polish minority church with 4,000 believers. In 1991, under his leadership, women were given access to the pastor's office.

He has been a member of the Christian Peace Conference since its first session in 1958. 20 years later, he was among the participants in the 5th All-Christian Peace Assembly held in Prague in 1978 . From 1990 to 1993 he was also President of the Polish Ecumenical Council . Since 1997 he has been the chairman of the National Committee of the Biblical Society in Poland.

As chairman of the non-denominational association DEOrecordings , he promoted the idea of bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to contemporaries through modern media and especially music .

Tranda also appeared through an introductory commentary on a book that is important for Poland in terms of church history.

Zdzisław Tranda is married and has two children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
