The Anna colliery was a coal - mine in Essen - Altenessen .
history
In 1842, several trades grouped together some mine fields in the area southwest of Altenessen under the name Zeche Anna . A mining trade union of the same name was founded.
In 1845 work began on sinking an Anna shaft north of the train station in Altenessen . The technical difficulties that arose in the course of the sinking, however, led to the suspension of all further work in the following year. The union had to liquidate. The Cologne Mining Association , founded in 1847, now took over the entire ownership of the Anna union. In the same year, the re-sinking of a shaft Anna began. This was right on today's Gladbecker Straße. The shaft reached the coal Mountains in 1849 and 1851 was the promotion to record. The shaft was equipped with a Malakow tower . As early as 1857, a kiln plant for coking the extracted coal was put into operation.
Subsequently, the Cologne Mining Association began to enlarge the minefields northwards to the Emscher. The Emil-Emscher colliery was built in 1872 from the connection systems initially planned for the Anna colliery . From 1880 a coking plant was built next to the Anna shaft to replace the old pile . The production rose to 120,000 t annually.
In 1895 the Malakow tower over the Anna shaft was replaced by a steel headframe . From 1896 to 1901, in addition to the Anna shaft, a weather shaft without a conveyor system was sunk. The production reached a value of 220,000 t with 900 employees.
Shutdown
After the new Emil 1/2 central conveyor system was put into operation in 1905, a connecting section between this mine and the Anna mine was excavated. In the long term it was planned to summarize the promotion on Emil 1/2. In 1911 the promotion to Anna was stopped and completely shifted to Emil.
The Anna 1/2 shafts were henceforth used as a cable car and weather shaft system for the Emil-Emscher colliery . The shafts remained in this function until 1952 and 1970.
Current condition
After the Anna-Carl construction site of the future Emil-Fritz mine was abandoned in 1970, the remaining daytime facilities were demolished. The former colliery site at the Gladbecker Strasse / Krablerstrasse intersection is used for commercial development.
The prototype hoods for shafts 1 and 2 are located on and on the Media Markt parking lot .
