The Emilie colliery is a former hard coal mine in Essen-Kettwig - Laupendahl . The mine has been shut down and put back into operation several times during its more than 100 years of operation.

Mine history Emilie

In 1833 that was Berechtsame together with the disused mining area of the mine, the United box awarded . The award document was only presented 15 years later on May 12, 1848. After the award, dismantling continued until 1860 . Due to numerous geological disturbances, the mine was no longer in operation from around 1875. In 1886, the earlier mining in the form of pinging trains was still visible on the seams near the Hoffmannsberg at Schloss Oefte. In 1892, the rights holder comprised a square the size of a treasure trove and 1200 dimensions .

On January 11, 1909, the mine was put back into operation, but only experimental work was carried out. With six miners a tunnel , a cutting and a day cutting was operated. On October 1st of the same year the mine was closed again. In September 1921 it was put back into operation. A tunnel was operated with seven miners and 540 tons of hard coal were extracted. On December 1, 1923, it was closed again. In 1956, the mine field of the Emilie colliery was put back into operation under the name Emilie Bergbau .

Emilie mining

The Emilie Bergbau colliery was a small mine in Essen-Kettwig, Laupendahler Höhe, owned by Emilie Bergbau GmbH. In the 19th century as well as in the years 1909 and 1921–1923 the mine was operated irregularly. In the period from May 7th to May 17th 1956 it was back in operation for a short time, but it was stopped again due to outcrops that were not worth building.

The United Field

The United Field colliery was in Essen-Kettwig-Laupendahl-Oefte. As early as 1750, a deep tunnel was excavated and mining began. In 1764 the tunnel was driven for a length of 85 Lachter, in the same year the first cessation of operations probably took place. The colliery was back in operation around the year 1766 , but penalties had to be paid constantly , as only 2 seams with lean coal were being mined. The mine was closed in 1791 and reopened in 1800. In 1806 the mine Das Vereinigte Feld was finally closed and the mine field was ceded to the Emilie mine.
