The Leipzig colliery is a former hard coal mine in Bommern- Hohenstein. The mine was only in operation for a few years. The mine was part of the Ostlich Witten mining area .

Mining history

A length field was awarded on February 14, 1851 . The Längenfeld was the eastern extension of the north wing of the Braunschweig colliery . In 1857 there were disagreements with the Frischauf colliery , as it had reached the mine sheath of the Leipzig colliery with its shallow shaft . In 1858 a contract was signed with the Nachtigall Tiefbau colliery , in which it was regulated that the Nachtigall Tiefbau colliery should solve part of the mine field of the Leipzig colliery . This measure served to protect the existing safety pier against damage by standing water . This year no agreement could be reached with the Frischauf colliery regarding the mine diaphragm problems. At the end of 1859 the Leipzig colliery went into operation. The mined coal was in the bay Catharina the Nightingale mine engineering promoted . In 1860 mining was carried out. In 1865 civil engineering was dismantled above the 8th level of the Nachtigall colliery. This bottom was at a shallower depth of 272 meters. This year four miners were employed at the Leipzig mine. In 1867, a field exchange was made with the Frischauf colliery. This year, seven miners extracted 2,848 tons of hard coal . In the second half of 1868, the Leipzig mine was shut down.
