The Rettelstrucker Stolln colliery in Essen-Holsterhausen is a former hard coal mine . The mine was also known as Zeche Rettelstrücker Stolln and Zeche Rettelstruck .
Mining history
In 1748 the first guess was made for a field in the area of the Mühlenbach valley. In 1809 the excavation of a tunnel began. The tunnel mouth hole was located on today's Achenbachhang road. The excavation of the tunnel was continued in 1812. From 1815 the mine was out of operation for several years. From August 1832, the tunnel was first cleared, and mining began in the following months . In 1833, which took place ceremony of mining authorization . In 1840 was tonnlägige shaft Dohm in promotion . The shaft was located in the area of Holsterhauser Platz. It is likely that substation construction was also carried out in this area. On February 11 of the following year, the mine was put back into operation. In 1846 the mine was still in operation, after which the mine was no longer mentioned in the documents. In 1856 , the Rettelstrucker colliery consolidated Stolln with other mines to form the Humboldt colliery .
Promotion and workforce
The first production and workforce figures for the mine date back to 1832. In that year, twelve miners were employed at the mine, who produced 4286 bushels of hard coal . In 1836 a production of 2,454 Prussian tons was provided. In 1840 the production was 11,192 ½ tons of hard coal. The last mining figures come from 1842, in that year 11,166 Prussian tons of hard coal were mined.
