Zechenwihler Hotzenhaus

The Zechenwihler Hotzenhaus in the village of Zechenwihl , a district of the municipality of Murg in the Waldshut district in Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1748. The Hotzenhaus at Hotzenwaldstrasse 87 is a protected cultural monument .

The two-storey Zechenwihler Hotzenhaus is a typical Black Forest house and one of the last of its kind. Although it has been rebuilt several times in the past, the almost 300-year-old house has largely been preserved in its original state.

The house has five ridge columns ten meters high and a ridge beam 18 meters long across them. In 1842 a driveway was added on the slope side, which has a protruding cripple hipped roof . In 1876 the wooden house was sheathed with stone walls. At the same time, the thatched roof was replaced by tiles .

The Zechenwihler Hotzenhaus association uses the former farmhouse as a museum and for cultural events.

The building was named " Monument of the Month March 2020" by the Monument Foundation Baden-Württemberg .
