The Zehentstadel of Beratzhausen (Paracelsusstraße 29) is the former caste office of the Ehrenfels rule .

Building description

The Zehentstadel is a three -story gable roof building with a two-story gable. It was built in the 16th century and rebuilt around 1811; the classicistic portal dates from this period. It contains historic beamed ceilings that rest on oak pillars with ornate saddle wood. The roof has been preserved in its original form; the window openings are covered with sandstone robes . The dimensions are 45 shoe width (approx. 15 m) and length 95 shoe (approx. 30 m).

history

As early as 1562 there is talk of a well-built box house , which means the Stauffer's box office for the storage of “valid and tithe ”. In 1544 the income from grain was estimated at 320 guilders , the income from property taxes was roughly the same. The gate contains the coat of arms of Pfalz-Neuburg and von Jülich in the keystone , above is the year 1599 and the letters CMAEDMCHPLPAPEGVG. This inscription can be interpreted as Christum meum asylum et deus mea consolatia. Duke Philipp Ludwig Pfalzgraf, Anna Pfalzgräfin, a born von Jülich. The inscription indicates the transition of the Stauff caste office from the Ehrenfels rulership to the Duchy of Pfalz-Neuburg. The princely officials now asked less interest in kind, but taxes were to be paid in cash. The Zehentstadel thus became the princely tax office. The building was repaired in 1788.

In 1805 the state sold the " Greidekasten " to the Engl Brewery and it was used as a brewery until 1965 . In 1982 the building was donated to the market town of Beratzhausen by brewery owner Wiendl. From 1983 to 1987 the Zehentstadel was revitalized. It now contains a “guest house” and the tourist office on the first floor, a ballroom (citizens' hall) and a spacious conference room on the first floor, and the library on the second floor . The renovated building was handed over to the citizens with a ceremony on November 27, 1987. There are regular cultural events here, as well as a Christmas market in front of the Zehentstadel during Advent .

In front of the entrance is a bronze sculpture of the natural healer Paracelsus , who spent some time at the Stauffer court in Beratzhausen.
