from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maria Franziska von Waldburg-Zeil-Wurzach (born April 16, 1630 - † November 5, 1693 ) was an abbess of the free worldly Buchau women's monastery in what is now Bad Buchau am Federsee . At the women's monastery in Essen , she held the offices of dean and provost .

Life

Maria Franziska was the daughter of Johann Jakob von Waldburg-Zeil-Wurzach and Johanna von Wolckenstein-Trostburg . At the age of 18, she was receiving commitments for the Damenstift food , convent of St. Ursula Cologne and Buchau. Due to the amount of the benefice, she decided to enter the women's monastery in Essen. In Buchau she retained the status of a non-resident canon. Therefore she was invited to Buchau for elections and amendments to the statutes. For the election of her predecessor in Buchau Maria Theresia von Sulz in 1669, however, she was represented by a Buchau canon when voting. She apologized with a certificate from a Cologne doctor. He confirmed that she was unable to make the journey from Essen to Buchau for health reasons.

In 1673 she wanted to join Buchau Abbey. She was denied this with the information that all positions are filled. On October 16, 1692 she was elected abbess of the Buchau women's monastery.
