Player career

society

Alp was born in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul in 1948 and began playing football in the youth of the then first division club Feriköy SK . Here he was noticed positively by the then head coach Eşfak Aykaç in 1967 and was accepted into the professional squad for the second half of the 1966/67 season. In his professional debut on February 4, 1967 during a first division match against Karşıyaka SK , he played the full distance. By the end of the season he had nine league and one cup encounters. In his second season he quickly rose to become a regular player and also played for the Turkish U-18 national team. Due to his convincing performance at a young age, he was noticed by the leading clubs in the Süper Lig. So he moved to the Istanbul traditional club Beşiktaş Istanbul for the 1968/69 season . In his first season at Beşiktaş, he was mostly on the bench and only played four league games. It was not until the seventh match day of the 1969/70 season that he won a regular place and kept this, excluding injury-related losses, until the end of his career.

Alp played a total of nine seasons for Beşiktaş and was just experiencing the seasons in which Galatasaray Istanbul dominated Turkish football with three Turkish championships in a row and then Trabzonspor began to win several championships in a row. In between, Fenerbahçe Istanbul also won some championships, so Alp went out with Beşiktaş without a championship title. At the end of the 1973/74 season, after six untitled seasons, they managed to win the Turkish Supercup and the Prime Minister's Cup again. Although they were two TSYD cup winners during this time , this cup was not given any great prestige.

The 1974/75 season ended disappointingly in the Süper Lig again in fifth place in the table, but could win the Turkish Football Cup for the first time in the club's history . After this success, Alp played three more seasons, but remained with his team without a title during this time. At the end of the 1977/78 season, Alp said goodbye to the football stage with a farewell game against Trabzonspor on August 1, 1978.

National team

Alp played for the Turkish national team for the first time for the Turkish U-18 national team on May 5, 1967 in a friendly meeting against the Belgian U-18 national team. After another game for the Turkish U-18s, he was not nominated for any national team until 1970. It was not until his regular position at Beşiktaş that the national coaches noticed him and nominated him for the first time for the Turkish U-21 national team .

After three games for the U-21, he was nominated in April 1971 for an EM1972 qualifier against the German national team in the squad of the Turkish national team and made his international debut on this occasion. After this game he was a regular player for about five years. He took part with the national team in the qualification of the European Football Championship 1972 , qualification of the Football World Cup 1974 , qualification of the European Football Championship 1976 , but could not qualify with his team for any of the teams.

His last international game he made on October 29, 1975 during an EM1976 qualifier against the Irish national team .
