Zelda Barron

Zelda Barron (born Zelda Ruth Solomons on March 31, 1929 in Cheetham, Manchester ; died on August 14, 2006 in Ireland ) was a British film producer , screenwriter and director .

She was born the fifth of six children. Her family consisted of the Jewish, Russian-born father who worked as a tailor and the mother, who herself came from a wealthy English family.

She originally wanted to study at a university, but her parents pushed her to attend a secretarial school.

In 1953 she worked as a secretary in the British film industry and married the British actor Ron Barron .

In the 1960s, Zelda Barron worked as a script supervisor at Woodfall Film Productions on films such as If… and Isadora , and was subsequently recognized for her talent as a script doctor in films such as Reds and Yentl .

Under Skreba Productions , which she co-founded with Simon Relph and Ann Skinner , she worked on her own films, which she wrote and directed, such as Secret Places .

When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease , she withdrew from filmmaking.

Barron died in Ireland in 2006 at the age of 77.
