Zell an der Rot is a district of the municipality of Rot an der Rot in the district of Biberach in Upper Swabia .

Zell an der Rot borders on Krimmel in the south and Eichenberg in the north. The place is, as the name affix implies, traversed by the red and is divided into Ober- and Unterzell.

For a long time, Oberzell was administered by the Tannheim Monastery Office. In rotischen Unterzell are around 1400 sixteen fiefdoms documented. Unterzell already had a castle in 1422, which was probably the result of an estate . In 1616 and 1742 only two or three farms of 23 fiefdoms had more than 20 Jauchert land. In 1742 almost all of Unterzell's mortgages were without purchase rights. In the Ochsenhausischen Oberzell, on the other hand, there were six Erblehenhöfe in 1598 with over 30 Jauchert land and only four landless Selden . For 1709 in Obernzell one is mayor mentioned, and in 1803 a bailiff .

economy

The place is dominated by agriculture and has, among other things, a woodworking and processing company. During the Weimar Republic , this company produced wooden boxes for the former brewery and mill at Haldenhaus . Lämmle Holzverarbeitung GmbH emerged from this company in 1931 . The subsidiary Industriepack Verpackungsgesellschaft Zell GmbH was later founded. This company had around 100 employees in 2012 and produced sawn timber , export packaging, winter gardens, pallets and boxes.

Events and clubs

The Schützenheim of the Schützenverein Rot an der Rot is located in Zell an der Rot. Every year there is a nationally known foolish parade on Carnival Saturday .
