Zeno Müller OSB (born June 23, 1818 in Pyhrn near Liezen as Franz Ignaz Müller , † March 4, 1894 in Admont ) was an Austrian Benedictine and abbot of Admont Abbey.

Life

Born in Liezen and the son of a mining official, he joined the Admont Abbey in 1841 after a brief activity in the chancellery of the Friedausch Eisenberg and Hüttenwerke administration office in Liezen and was ordained a priest in 1845 , the year of his solemn profession . Until 1863 he was vicar at the neighboring parish Hall , from 1850/51 he taught at the theological home school of the monastery moral theology and was teacher of agriculture at the preparatory institute in 1864/65 . From 1856 to 1885 he was kitchen master, from 1852 to 1866 Kastner and from 1867 to 1869 an economist and chamberlain. In 1869 he was elected 60th abbot of the monastery.

His great task was to rebuild the monastery, which was almost completely ruined after the great fire of 1865. In 1869 the collegiate church was rededicated. In 1872 he built a sheet metal factory in Trieben instead of the outdated hammer mill, and in 1872 a new scythe mill in Klamm near Rottenmann . In 1876 he started a peat cutting shop near Admont. He had several parsonages and churches renovated, works of art restored, and the library, the natural history collection and the coin cabinet expanded and supplemented.

In December 1885 he resigned from office due to illness. He spent the last years of his life withdrawn in the monastery.
